PAST FUEL AND COMBUSTION RESEARCH

Dual-fuel engine combustion with biomass gas

In this experiment 10mg of diesel fuel was injected per cycle to ignite biomass gas. You can observe dual-fuel combustion with distinct highly luminescent sooty diesel flame and blue soot-free biomass gas flame. Please wait a moment until the video starts appearing.

In the experiment below micro-pilot 2mg of diesel fuel was injected per cycle to ignite biomass gas. You can observe dual-fuel combustion dominated by soot-free biomass gas flame with burning diesel droplets. Please wait a moment until the video starts appearing.

Flame propagation and abnormal combustion in SI engine

In this experiment you can observe normal combustion of gasoline-air mixture with equivalence ratio 1.25. Initial pressure and temperature were P0 = 60kPa and T0 = 343K, repectively. Ignition timing 10 degrees BTDC.

In the experiment below you can observe knocking combustion of gasoline-air mixture with equivalence ratio 1.25. Initial pressure and temperature were P0 = 60kPa and T0 = 353K, repectively. Ignition timing 10 degrees BTDC. Knock intensity 0.56MPa.

HCCI engine combustion with DME fuel

In this experiment you can observe Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition (HCCI) combustion with Dimethyl Ether (DME) fuel. HCCI combustion is not in fact "Homogeneous" as you can see the volumetric and random flame distribution in the cylinder.

In this experiment you can observe very strong knocking combustion of ethane-air mixture with equivalence ratio 1. Initial pressure and temperature were P0 = 60kPa and T0 = 323K, repectively. Ignition timing 15 degrees BTDC. Knock intensity was 2.5MPa.
